Doctors and Nurses Jobs Experiencing Employment Boom

Doctors & Nurses Jobs Experiencing Growth
The current employment news is good. Good, that is, if you’re qualified to work in the health care industry. If you are looking for doctors or nurses jobs in Australia, now is the time to act! Medical jobs are increasingly being advertised for nurses, doctors, and even most allied health areas, and this upwards trend is unlikely to slow down any time soon.

As Australia’s population ages and more people choose not to immunise, the need for health care professionals is rising. In fact employment advertising website Cirrus states that the sheer number of weekly ads has doubled over the last 12 months.

The data for Seek shows (over the past 12 months) ads for general practitioner jobs have grown by 37%, and nurses and specialists jobs have grown by 40%. In a climate where employment in general is at a 12 year high, health care professionals should be grinning.  If you’re looking for a doctor job, there’s no time like the present.

Whether this current boom is driven by demand (some suggest that Medicare is responsible, as people seek care where they otherwise wouldn’t if they had to pay) or simple demographics (an ageing population) is irrelevant. The number of predicted jobs for registered nurses in 2018 is estimated at 277,600. That’s a growth rate of 15.4%. Moving away from the more day-to-day life and death healthcare fields, the Gold Coast is currently experiencing its own boom – in breast enhancement surgeries.

One practice undertakes 23 ‘standard, uncomplicated’ breast augmentation surgery every second Friday, generating its own medical tourism hotspot. As other countries come under fire for their less-than-professional results in this area, Australia could well be the Next Big Thing, bringing with it a need for more specialists. The need for specialists (and GPs, and nurses, and physiotherapists and…) means salaries will increase.

Another area where the need for GPs, and health care jobs will increase is the outback, where infrastructure and road network improvements is resulting in the spread of city populations into regional areas. Increased populations require more of everything, including medical professionals. It’s already well-known that regional areas have poor health, partly due to a lack of properly trained health workers.
